Gary asks: - Hi Mack,
Great Sunday prospect list and I marvel at all the work you put into the site.
You blow away all the other Mets blogs. A question for you..... Based on our
needs for next year would you trade RA Dickey in the off season on the theory
that it was a career year, he has a very cheap option and it’s very unlikely
he'll ever come close that again. Look I love the guy but we have soooo many
needs and unless I'm very wrong I don't get the sense ownership is going to
spend much in the free agent market.
Mack – Well, it depends
on your 2013 goals.
I am steadfast in
saying that 2014 begins the Mets dynasty. That would include a rotation of Zack Wheeler, Matt Harvey, and Jon Niese, but it won’t be until 2015 that pitchers like Michael Fulmer, Domingo Tapia, Rafael Montero, Carlos
Vasquez, and Marcos Camarena arrive. I
expect fallout here, but the five left standing will equal any other rotation
in baseball.
You keep pitchers like
Dickey, Tyler Pill, Chris Young, and Dillon Gee around in 2013 if you want to make a run
for that year’s playoffs.
If you want to start
filling in some of the positions (2B, C, RF, LF) you need help, well, you can
take it from here…
