May 12th 2014 -- Mets 9, Yankees 7

Monday night in the Bronx, the Mets hit 4 homers and came back from 3 run deficits twice as they out slugged the Yankees 9-7. As has been their trend this year, the Mets took an early 1 nothing lead in the top of the first when Eric YoungJr. led off the game with a single; stole 2nd (15) advanced to third on a ground out by Daniel Murphy and then scored on a ground out by David Wright. Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and continued to struggle as he let up a two out grand slam to Brett Gardner (2) in the bottom of the 2nd to make it 4-1 Yanks. In the top of the 5th Travis d’Arnaud homered (3) to make it 4-2. In the 6th David Wright singled to extend his hitting streak to 10 games, and then Curtis Granderson hit a 2 run homer (3)off Hiroki Kuroda to tie the game at 4. In the bottom of the 6th the Yanks knocked Colon out of the box scoring three times on an RBI single by Yangervis Solarte, an RBI triple by Kevin Johnson and Johnson scored on an errant pickoff throw by d’Arnaud to make it 7-4 Yankees. In the top of the 7th Eric Young Jr clubbed a line drive two run homer (1) to right to make it 7-6. In the 8th Lucas Duda hit a broken bat RBI single to score Eric Campbell and then Chris Young hit a long 2 run homer to left (3) to give the Mets the lead for good. Kyle Farnsworth got the save (3) in the bottom of the 9th, but Lucas Duda saved the game with a terrific diving grab to start a 3-5-3 double play to end the game. Jenrry Mejia pitched an inning an third scoreless relief and gets the win he’s now 4-0. Matt Thorton takes the loss, he falls to 0-1. With the win the Mets now stand at 18-19 on the year and 9-8 on the road. Tuesday night it’s the final game at Yankee stadium. Zach Wheeler (1-3 3.89) goes for the Mets, Vidal Nuno (1-0 5.47) goes for the Yanks.

This is the most exciting game I have watched since Johan's no-hitter.

Can you imagine if the dimensions of CitiField were the same as Yankee Stadium?

David Wright would lead the majors in opposite field home runs.
