Mets Minor League Report: May 13, 2014

MMLR Player of the Day: Savannah RHRP Robert Coles

Las Vegas (28-11) tops Tacoma (18-18) 5-4 in 10 innings.

This one must be tough for Tacoma to swallow. After coming back from a 3-0 deficit with 2 in the 8th and then 1 in the 9th to tie, Tacoma took a 1 run lead in the top of the 10th only to have Las Vegas come back with 2 in the bottom of the 10th to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Logan Verrett pitched well but got nothing to show for it: 7.1 IP, 2 R, 0 ER, 7 H, BB, 4 K.
Buddy Carlyle: 0.2 IP, H, K.
Vic Black (BS, 1) allowed the tying run to score: 1.0 IP, R, H, 2 BB, K.
Jeff Walters (W, 3-2) allowed the go ahead run: 1.0 IP, R, 2 H.

Allan Dykstra: 2--4, 2B, BB, RBI, R. (.317)
Zach Lutz: 2-5, RBI. (.315)
Matt den Dekker: 1-2, HR, 2 BB, RBI, 2 R.

Altoona (15-21) tramples Binghamton (18-16) 10-3.

Hansel Robles (L, 1-2) didn’t survive the 3rd inning: 2.2 IP, 7 R, 6 H, (3 HR ouch!) BB, 5 K.
T.J. Chism: 2.1 IP, 2 R, 3 H, 3 BB, 3 K.
Jon Velasquez: 1.0 IP, H.
Cody Satterwhite: 1.0 IP, R, 4 H, 2 K.

Dustin Lawley: 2-4, HR, 2B, RBI, 2 R.
Travis Taijeron: 2-4, 2B.

Tampa (17-20) shocks St. Lucie (22-16) 7-2.

Going into the 9th inning trailing 2-1, Tampa scores 6 runs to put the game away.

Steven Matz left the game on the long side: 5.0 IP, R, 8 H, 2 BB, 6 K.
Seth Lugo held the fort: 3.0 IP, 0 R, H, 4 K.
The roof fell in on Beck Wheeler: (BS, 3) (L, 1-1) 0.2 IP, 6 R, 3 H, 4 BB, 2 K.
Hunter Carnevale got the final out: 0.1 IP, H. Too little, too late.

Dilson Herrera: 2-5, R.
T.J. Rivera: 2-4, 2B, R.
Jairo Perez: 3-4, 2B.

Savannah (25-11) slams Charleston (20-17) 8-4.

Remarkable Robert Coles (S, 8) was unscathed: 2.2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, BB, 3 K. Like Akeel Morris yesterday, Coles remains unscored upon this season.

Patrick Biondi: 3-5, 2 RBI, R.
L.J. Mazzilli: 1-3, 2B, 2 BB, 2 R.
Colton Plaia: 1-4, 2 RBI, R.

This guy Coles has been super- impressive. Wonder how his stuff will translate to higher competition. Leather seems back on track, Vic suffered another Black-out. Where have you gone, Jeff Walters? Nimmo ice cold, leaving the ongoing hitting festivities to Jairo, Herrera and Rivera. Let's hope this is not another Nimmo May swoon after a scorching April.
