Clay Holmes stifled the Rockies today as he conquered Coors with 1 ER

He lowered his ERA to 2.95

Mack –

Holmes doesn’t have the kind of flashy numbers that Kodai Senga has. But he simply and efficiently gets the job done. His overall whiff rate last night was an impressive 30.8%, with 47.4% specifically for his slider. He’s now ranked 22nd in MLB ERA, just ahead of Zach Wheeler.

  1. My brother loves Mason Miller, because his ferocious attitude matches his lethal fastball.

I wonder if Dylan Ross can quickly become a Mason Miller. His Ks per innings ratio is nearly 2:1.

Those are some impressive charts for the Mets.

I wonder if Clay Holmes would be amenable for a switch back to the bullpen for a while to limit his innings? Doubt he wants that, but when Manaea and Montas return, they will have 8 quality starters. Something will have to give.

  2. Good morning Tom, been reading for years and will now comment on occasion if that's ok. Interesting point with Clay having the experience in the pen but also pitching like a SP - 1 or 2 so far. I follow the farm box scores on a daily basis and the farm has been great this year, to many guys having goods years to list them all. My name is Angelo and I am trying not figure out the sign in thing.

  3. Wow! That chart of MLB ERA vs OPS puts all the teams with top winning records in that upper right quadrant. Certainly a place to strive for, but may be a little obvious to need the visual.

  4. Did Baty and Vientos just get "Wally Piped". Ronnie sure is impressive and probably we would have never seen Mark last year if Mauricio was healthy. DS has some very intereting decisions to make going forward stay tuned.

  6. Hay pitchers break! No big package or contract for a pitcher. Especially since nowadays they only pitch 6 innings.
