THE CAVALRY IS COMING, SO RELAX ALREADY
Everyone wonders why Mets starters don’t go deeper into games. But me.
Two simple reasons:
1) The Mets, unlike many readers it seems, are aware that these pitchers most likely will be pitching in games during the entirety of October, as most other teams’ pitchers have fallen short and gone home.
2) The cavalry is coming. Montas in 10 days(?), Manaea in 3 weeks(?). Blackburn just back. SUPER SURPLUS.
There is zero reason to over-work your starters now.
This is a 175 game season, give or take. Not 162.
THRU SUNDAY, THE USUAL…
The Mets are averaging 4.3 runs per game at home, but a far higher 4.9 on the road. Why? Come on, you know why. Admit it, you’ll feel better.
Home field is not hitter-friendly (when have I said this before?)
We get to see how the team can really score on the road.
Maybe some day, we will get more Citi Citi Bang Bang.

I'm not that concerned about the starters going forward
ReplyDeleteI worry about the over-usage of the pen
I hope Blackburn remains there, Montas goes there, and Manaea shoves Megill there
Nice pitching problem to have.
ReplyDeleteAgree. Save the pen!
ReplyDeleteHay the Mets have a great home record. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
ReplyDeleteWhy is anonymous allowed to post?
ReplyDeleteThey have a great home record. Probably the field has something to do with it. At least it’s a reasonable guess 900.
ReplyDeleteI think, and stand by my position, that fences 5-7 feet shorter in CitiField, 8 feet less in dead center) would unleash the Mets hitting beast. The bats would go on a season-long tear.
ReplyDeleteThe Mets’ pitchers would adjust….net positive advantage to the Mets.
So you would risk losing the best pitching staff I baseball? Pitching wins games.
