Breaking News - Luke Weaver is a Met - Deal Still to be Confirmed

BIG PEN UPGRADE!!

Just reported by David Adler and Anthony DiComo:

“The Mets are adding another high-leverage arm to their bullpen. And it’s another face familiar to New Yorkers.

“The team on Wednesday agreed to terms on a two-year, $22 million deal with right-hander , a source told MLB.com. Weaver, who spent time setting up Devin Williams and also closing in the Bronx last season, will reunite with his old teammate in Queens. The club has not confirmed the deal, which is pending a physical.””

  1. Quality arm, but is he a multi-innings guy or a short reliever? Because if they have a bunch of one inning guys like last year, we will have the same results as last year.

  2. Mostly one inning outings.

13 outings of 1.1 innings to 2 innings in 2025, out of his 64 outings. The other 51 outings were mostly one inning, some less.

  3. I love this signing. Hopefully we can get one more lefty option for the backend as well?
How about signing Synddergard to a minor league contract as ann option for the bullpen? Let’s see what he has left in the tank, we have nothing to lose?

Hopefully a Bellinger or Tucker contract is to follow?
Also 2 of Michael king, Tatsuya Imai and Ranger Suarez signings

Lastly would still love a Manny Machado batting behind Soto for the next 8 years.
Take on most of his contract and get Miller in the deal as well. Trade them Baty, Vientos Jett, Peterson and Sproat.
    Imagine this lineup?
    Lindor
    Soto
    Machado
    Bellinger
    Polanco
    Semien
    Alvarez
    Benge
    Taylor

  4. No to Syndergaard. Why aren’t the Angels signing him? He got his qualifying offer and took the same money to go to Disneyland. Not no, HELL NO!

  5. Machado is a handful. A manager killer.

  6. This signing didn't help. Weaver is old and his best seasons are behind him. If he is our set-up man, we will never make it to the ninth. It's run prevention David, not win prevention.

  7. lots of old Yankees with Soto/Holmes last winter and now Weaver, Williams and possibly Bellinger managed by an old Yankees coach

  10. He made only 2.5m last year, is there any reason we had to pay him so much. You do remember he collapsed late last year.

Feel the same about Machado, not a very nice man. Love the player, hate the man.
