MACK – Let’s Revisit - DH/SS/CF - Cleiner Ramirez
Cleiner Ramirez (full name: Cleiner Jesius Ramirez) is a 17-year-old Venezuelan outfielder/prospect in the New York Mets organization. Basic info
- Born: December 1, 2008, in Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela.
- Position: Primarily OF (has also played some infield/SS; viewed as potentially versatile/utility).
- Bats/Throws: Right/Right.
- Size: 5'9", 175 lbs.
- Age: 17 (as of 2026).
He ranked No. 23 on MLB Pipeline’s Top 50 international prospects list for that class (one of the Mets’ bigger signings that period, behind their top target).
Scouts highlighted his balanced skill set and upside.
MLB.com noted a strong amateur showing in the Caracas Prospect League (.419 average in a small sample with solid plate discipline). One evaluator compared his projected filled-out build to Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett; others linked aspects of his profile to Luisangel Acuña. He has impressive bat speed, a repeatable swing path, an advanced approach for his age, developing power, above-average speed, and athleticism that could support multi-position play. 2026 performance (Dominican Summer League)He was assigned to the DSL Mets Orange and named a DSL Mid-Season All-Star (also selected for the DSL NL All-Stars). Approximate full-season DSL numbers (per FanGraphs/MiLB sources):
- 41 games, 145 AB / 171 PA
- .241 AVG / .357 OBP / .462 SLG / .819 OPS
- 7 HR, 11 doubles, 22 RBI, 42 runs, 18 SB (1 CS)
- 18 BB, 27 SO, solid walk rate and low strikeout rate for the level.

Cleiner? I like the power, but his average and OBP were below league average…which concerns me a bit. Time to rock and roll in 2027
ReplyDeleteAny time you get a top 50 IFA, there is reason for hope. Long road in front of him but the talent is there.
ReplyDeleteQuestion about Cuban players
ReplyDeleteFor a long time Cuban defectors were the height of potential baseball talent
(Like Japan is now)
What happened that we don’t hear about the best Cuban players joining the MLB
Not sure what your question is
DeleteBaseball signs the best Cubans that breakaway from that country
Always has
Always will
