Reyes will have a month to show what he is still capable of. Gurriel will have a month to prepare for the major league level.
If both succeed......All the better.

Figure out exactly what to do with each when/if the best case scenario actually occurs. ( remember the teams injury-prone-nature: Cabrera and/or Walker could both suffer an injury during the next month)

Facing Reality: The Mets are in a tough position. Partly because of their own choices in entering the season depending so much on players with significant injury histories and resistance to selling high on Granderson. The offense needs help. There are no better options available at this time and by the time a month passes by, it is entirely possible they could find themselves on the outside of a playoff position.bgreg98180https://www.blogger.com/profile/05641039400307113366noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-592615130369356022.post-38652050627797268372016-06-22T11:08:33.147-04:002016-06-22T11:08:33.147-04:00Reyes' availability comes at the perfect time ...Reyes' availability comes at the perfect time for this FO, and I think it's 80-20 that they'll sign him. Not that I think he's definitely going to help, in fact, as basically a SS only (as far as anyone knows) he's not a great fit. But signing Reyes for the pro rated vets' minimum would be cheap, and would distract the fan base and take the pressure off of them to spend actual money on the Cuban. That Adam Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05687771146317665283noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-592615130369356022.post-41871478236557029072016-06-22T09:20:50.563-04:002016-06-22T09:20:50.563-04:00Agree with Zo. However, from wha...Agree with Zo. Sign them both.

However, from what I read, Guirell would need some ST in AAA (Jose too, but likely a shorter window).

Eventually Guirell at 3B, a Wilmer/Loney 1B platoon and Jose as IF UT.

If we dump DeAza, Johnson could stay as an IF/OF UT giving evermore flexibility. Of course, my preference in that role would by TJR who was playing a lot of LF before his DL stint.

No to Valencia IMO.Hobiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11161607087964191500noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-592615130369356022.post-26548056285843409832016-06-22T09:00:33.179-04:002016-06-22T09:00:33.179-04:00I am all in on getting them both. Even get him some reps in The corner outfield spots to see what he can do.
This is the best way to go and not having to lose any prospects. All it will cost is money and that can come out of the D Wright insurance fund.

Also if you sign Guirell he can move him back and forth between 2nd and 3rd next year if Wright has another setback. It may also help us convince Cespedes to stay with us because one of his homeboys is here.Zozohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04328187548616168708noreply@blogger.com
