I didn't ...Moves that might make some sense...

I didn't quite get the acquisition of CF veteran Austin Jackson entirely yet, but could soon I do admit. To me, you have two really good young outfielders in Brandon Nimmo (Did you see that sliding catch he made last night in right centerfield? Poetry in motion. And he is hitting to the whole field now too!) and LF Michael Conforto, another capable outfielder (like Brandon) who can play (admirably well) any of the three outfield Mets positions.

Anyway, I'd would really like to see AAA All Star OF Zach Borenstein (.263 BA at Vegas,22 HR, .368 OBP) up here soon, just for another look. Zach would be a nice homerun hitting addition here I believe, and the current NY Mets lineup (with Bruce or Todd still being out hurt.)

The other possible addition that I can think of right now, might be 27 year old (under the proverbial radar) Levi Michael (.308 BA, .395 OBP, 10 HR, and with 27 doubles.) I think he deserves a promotion up to the Mets at sometime this season.

I watched the International League All Star game, and Zach Borenstein stood out with his power.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-592615130369356022.post-88323136732772682812018-07-28T11:40:32.932-04:002018-07-28T11:40:32.932-04:00So Where Are The NY Mets Right Now
Here's my ...So Where Are The NY Mets Right Now

Here's my take...

Going into 2019, the Mets need to establish, find or add in a definite second baseman. I like newcomer Jeff McNeil. But to my own eyes maybe on third base. there is no other heir apparent to the second base position down in NY Mets MiLB ball that I see.

The other position open might be third base and then another catcher who can share the catcher spot in a platoon type situation, not totally unlike goaltenders in the NHL. Two guys willing to equally split time behind the dish and share horrific bruises with one another.

These three fielding positions.

I see the 2019 NY Mets outfield as set now. Left to right as it is right now with Conforto, Nimmo, and Joey Bats. I would not place any eggs in the Yoenis Cespedes basket because the injury he sustained to his heels is serious and without a true timetable. His recovery time from the operation is totally individualistic and genetic, in other words.

As far as the NY Mets Free Agent List goes, I would definitely re-sign Joey Bats (the guy plays like he is 27 years old people!) and probably hustling catcher Devon Mesoraco, if not traded at the deadline because every team in MLB needs another catcher. It is by far and away the weakest position in all levels of professional baseball.
