With respect to Montero, Neise, Gee & Colon, who I suspect will not find a trade market before mid-summer, there are two starting slots and at least two BP slots (3 if Parnell needs XST) to fill. So what is the optimum deployment?

Analogy I think is Schmoltz stint in the pen--not optimizing Scmoltz's abilities, but perhaps optimizing the Brave's staff at the time.Hobiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12583242267777911354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-592615130369356022.post-686874314862362832014-11-30T09:18:54.146-05:002014-11-30T09:18:54.146-05:00To say that Camargo is better than Tovar, Reynolds...To say that Camargo is better than Tovar, Reynolds, Herrera or even TJ Rivera is obviously coming from someone who has not seen all those players play in-person. Both I am betting play a whole lot of games in Savannah, which should really start to show what they've got.

When I see hot prospect like Bradley struggle so much offensively, people need to think positively about the stick of Wilmer Flores. He really hit in September and, in a day and age of strikeouts, hardly ever K'd down the stretch. I'm expecting big things of a guy who, when he was in AAA as one of the youngest guys in that league, was an extra base hit, RBI machine.

Bobby's presenting a bold plan. I gotta look these guys up when I am at a computer. That said, I do not know how you carry 2 guys like that on your 25 man and not compromise 2015. There s/b room for one, I'd think.Tom Brennanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01032383157195393857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-592615130369356022.post-71050729570167346912014-11-30T08:54:51.347-05:002014-11-30T08:54:51.347-05:00Let's see - Camargo is a 20 year old who spent...Let's see - Camargo is a 20 year old who spent the majority of 2014 posting a .643 OPS in the SAL and Hernandez is a 21 year old who posted a .667 OPS in the FSL.

Meanwhile, Tejada was putting up that OPS in the majors at that age. Over his age 20 and 21 seasons, Tejada had a .653 OPS with the Mets in 631 PA.

The amount of projection it takes to put those two in Tejada's class is enormous and that's not even counting the essentially lost year of development sitting on the MLB bench. And we also have to factor in which players the Mets would have to expose to create room on the 40-man roster.

As for the Donaldson deal, it's likely we'll know in five months if it was a bad deal. Unless this is accompanied by other moves the A's didn't get full value for Donaldson. If they use one of the minor leaguers as a main part of the package to acquire someone else, then it's another story.

Finally, Randy Johnson could have been the greatest LOOGY of all time but it would have been a tremendous waste because you don't put a pitcher in a sub-optimal role, regardless of how good he would be in it.

In his last three starts in the majors, Montero had 18 IP, 2 ER and 19 Ks. Those are not the numbers of someone screaming to be moved to the pen. If he isn't traded, you let him compete for a job in the rotation in Spring Training and if he doesn't win it there, let him continue as a SP in Triple-A.Brian Jourahttp://mets360.comnoreply@blogger.com
