Everywhere I look I read only that no other team would want Granderson and his contract.

Cuddyer may have a hitting history but there are a lot of questions regarding his age and injuries.

The jury may still be deliberating, but the verdict of how positively Alderson impacted this major league team depends on these two. His fielding i pray will reach mediocrity. But i love his work ethic. He doesnt accept failure. He keeps working on his craft. If he stays healthy he will improve.

Lets move Colon!! Lucas Duda needs to do it a second time before I become a believer.

I do give credit to Alderson for the acquisition of Travis d'Arnaud who looks like he could be a good one, but see Duda. Let's see him turn in a full season comparable to his return-from-AAA performance.

I'd like to see what Wilmer Flores can do but everyone seems ready to bury him as quickly as Collins did much of last year.

Herrera also looks like he has some promise, too, but we have to see it at the major league level. Ditto Matt Reynolds, Brandon Nimmo and Michael Conforto. The fact remains that the teams doesn't seem to value hitting as much as it does pitching, hence the constant struggle to score runs. The Mets were very fun to watch near the end of the year last year because we saw some of the young guys blossoming and seeing what could unfold for next year. Harvey, DeGrom, Lagares, Familia and Herrera are so exciting and fun to watch. Can't wait to see them all playing together.Dallashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07966349028036306647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-592615130369356022.post-25607776488455431652014-12-06T13:40:22.665-05:002014-12-06T13:40:22.665-05:00Resee - I have to respectfully disagree with you o...Resee - I have to respectfully disagree with you on several levels here.

First - this is really a poor way to compare teams - there were more than a couple of guys in 2010 who out performed their talent level - Frenchy, most of the bullpen, and Pell Rey for starters.

Second, the 2010 team had very few young players on the upticky of their career - actually that would pretty much just be Niece and Gee as Davis flamed out.

The 2015 team, on the other hand, is built around a bunch of stud young pitcher whose careers are just taking off. Plus Lagares, Flores, MDD and to some extent Duda are still trending up.

Thitd, unlike 2010, the Mets actually have some real talent down in AAA to reach into when needed - as you said yourself, the 2010 5th starter was a black hole most of the year - with Thor and Matz in AAA that won't happen this year - plus the team has Pawleki, Herrera, and Nimmo in AAA as well. Tell me the last time this organization had 3 real ML prospects in AAA.

Last, the 2010 team was full of crappy contracts that hamstrung the organization and directly led to Reyes walking. Plus, remember K-Rdo had to be dealt because of his contract

And lastly lastly, Sandy gets 100 percent full credit for the talent that has us all excited - he is responsible for Harvey, Wheeler, deGrom, and Thor - not to mention Herrera, TdA and Nimmo.

The young upward talent I. 2015 compared to the mostly past their prime talent in 2010 makes it no comparison - the currenet team (and I notice you didn't address the entire organization) is much, much better that the one fielded in 2010.
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05107443295708283998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-592615130369356022.post-20788267029559578282014-12-06T12:26:09.005-05:002014-12-06T12:26:09.005-05:00Big Mike Pelfrey is 12-29 since that year. When he had his great start to the season (10-2, 2.71 in late June 2010), my brother Steve (whom I quote a lot) was SCREAMING to trade him while his value was up because it would not last. Mets should have listened, as from that point on, his performance has been miserable.

Just being in a Pelf-free zone makes the current Mets better than the 2010 version.

I think the hitting has a lot less gaping holes going into 2015 than a year ago, but time will tell.Tom Brennanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01032383157195393857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-592615130369356022.post-84351575933040466002014-12-06T12:24:37.398-05:002014-12-06T12:24:37.398-05:00I have to agree with Reese here.
