The draft builds fu...Tom - <br /><br />Thanks for this post.<br /><br />The draft builds future teams, but it has not been the cornerstone of what success the Mets have had over the past few years. I could write volumes (and maybe I will) about the dud drafts the Mets have had since 2000.<br /><br />The other way to build for the future is to trade your aging stars to teams competing for a playoff slot for prospects and the Yankees have overwhelmingly beat the Mets in this category over the past three years.<br /><br />I am not a big fan about where the Mets system stands right now, but the Yankees have proven you can turn this around with decent drafts and trades (Bruce?) for multiple prospects.
