D’Andre Smith (full name D’Andre Juan Smith) is a New York Mets minor-league prospect, currently with the Triple-A Syracuse Mets. Key details
  • Born: May 10, 2001 (age 25), San Diego/Diamond Bar, California area.
  • Position: Primarily middle infield (SS/2B) and outfield; versatile utility player who has seen time at multiple spots.
  • Bats/Throws: Right/Right.
  • Height/Weight: 5’9”, 180 lbs.
  • Draft: Selected by the Mets in the 5th round (149th overall) of the 2022 MLB Draft out of USC; signed for a $379,400 bonus.
BackgroundHe played high school ball at San Dimas HS (California), then college at USC. As a sophomore in 2022 he hit .286/.380/.471 with 8 HR. Injuries limited him earlier in college. His grandfather, Milton “Milt” Smith, was a former professional player. Minor-league path and recent performanceHe has progressed through the Mets system (FCL, St. Lucie, Brooklyn Cyclones, Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Syracuse). 

He contributed to Binghamton’s 2025 Eastern League championship.2025 (mainly AA Binghamton, some A+ Brooklyn): Combined .282 AVG, 8 HR, 47 RBI, 31 SB in 101 games. 

2026 (as of late August): Split time across levels after injury rehab, currently at AAA Syracuse (promoted Aug. 19 after a brief earlier stint).

2026/AAA-Syracuse - 78-AB, 17-K, 26-H, 4-HR, 12-RBI

.333/.409/.538/.948 

 Overall minors in 2026: roughly .244/.317/.415 with 5 HR and 13 SB in ~53 games. At Syracuse specifically he has been productive (around .341/.426/.610 with multiple HR in limited action). 

Career minor-league line is approximately .254/.321/.388 with 20 HR and 62 SB. He has dealt with multiple injured-list stints (including in 2023, 2024, and 2026) but has shown speed, some power, and defensive versatility. He is not currently on the Mets’ 40-man roster and remains a prospect/organizational depth piece.

    D'Andre has had plenty of opportunity in the Mets system over the years and never seems to rise to the top. Now, with many new additions to the Mets minors, he needs to step up or step out.

      Smith was not healthy early on. And was hitting on a sub .200 team. But his 34 for 110 in August and September is impressive. Looks like a possible good future sub. Just one error in 53 games in the field at multiple positions helps sub role potential.
