B-Mets in Town, Ready To Play
With the Opening Day just five days away, the Binghamton Mets have broken camp in St. Lucie, FL and have begun their trek to NYSEG Stadium to prepare for the 2009 season.
The coaching staff and players will begin to arrive in Binghamton on Sunday and will be available for interviews and comments beginning at 1:00 PM on Monday at NYSEG Stadium. The team will have workouts on Monday, April 6 from 2-4 PM and again on Tuesday, April 7 from 2-4 PM. The practices will be open to the media and the public.
Monday will be a busy day for the B-Mets as they practice in the early afternoon before heading to the Binghamton Regency for the SOLD-OUT Welcome Back Mets Dinner. The festivities begin at 5:30 PM with the “Meet the Mets” autograph session. Buddy, Ballwinkle and Bingo, the B-Mets mascots, and the rest of the 2009 team will be in attendance to sign autographs and greet fans. Dinner is slated to be served promptly at 7:00 PM followed by a special program with team introductions by third-year manager Mako Oliveras.
All the proceeds from the event will be directed toward scholarships for the Binghamton Mets Kids Camp to be held at NYSEG Stadium during the season.
The Binghamton Mets open their 18th Eastern League season April 8th at Trenton at 7:05 PM. The B-Mets make their return to NYSEG Stadium to open up their 71-game home schedule April 16th with a 6:35 tilt against the Portland Sea Dogs. The terrific 2009 promotional line up debuts with a schedule magnet giveaway and the Pre-Game Tailgate Party on Thirsty Thursday slated for Opening Night in Binghamton!
