Bisons Game Notes

TODAY’S GAME:

Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons host the Syracuse Chiefs in the final game of a four-game series from Coca-Cola Field (6:05 p.m.). The Herd needs a win tonight to avoid a four-game sweep at the hands of the Chiefs. After this series, the Bisons will head to Rochester for a two-game set against the Red Wings before returning home to host the Louisville Bats for four games at Coca-Cola Field.

ROSTER MOVES:

The Bisons have activated INF Mike Lamb to their roster today. Lamb has hit .277 with 69 homeruns and 345RBI over nine major league seasons. The Mets announced that they have selected the contract of LHP Ken Takahashi. He had posted a 0.77ERA in six outings for the Herd. New York also released OF Frank Diaz, who was 0-2 in 3 games with the Bisons.

HOT BAT:

INF Jonathan Malo is heating up at the plate. The infielder has collected a hit in each the last three games against Syracuse with five hits in 11 at-bats (.455 average). Malo has also doubled in two straight games. So far this season, Malo is hitting .388 (7-18) against Syracuse.

SPEED LIMIT:

The Bisons’ catchers lead the International League in both times caught stealing (10) and percentage (45%). The Herd has allowed just 12 stolen bases in 22 attempts by its opponents. As a team, the Bisons .982 fielding percentage is ranked 5th in the International League.

ON THE CHARTS:

OF Fernando Martinez is tied with Indianapolis’ INF Garrett Jones with his eight doubles on the season. He is also tied for 4th in the IL in extra-base hits with 10 (8 doubles, 1 triple, 1 homerun).

CASEY ON THE MOUND: The Mets have designated LHP Casey Fossum. The southpaw posted a 0.82ERA in two starts with the Bisons to begin the year. With New York, Fossum had a 2.25ERA in 3 games and 4.0 innings pitched. OH NELLY: The New York Mets have also re-signed RHP Nelson Figueroa to a minor league deal. Figueroa posted a 3.00ERA in two starts for the Bisons this year before being promoted by the Mets on April 18. Figueroa was 0-1 with a 4.50ERA in one start with New York (6.0IP, 5H, 3R, 3ER, 2BB, 3K).
