Bisons Gane Notes

TODAY’S GAME: Today, the Buffalo Bisons take on Syracuse Chiefs in the second game of a four-game series from Alliance Bank Stadium (2:00 p.m.). The Chiefs struck first in the set with a 3-1 victory on Friday night. The defeat was the fifth consecutive for the Herd. After this four-game series, the Bisons will play two in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before returning to Buffalo on Friday, April 24.

F-MART: OF Fernando Martinez extended his hit streak to a Bisons’ season-high five games yesterday. Martinez has hit .348 (8-23) with four doubles and a home run since Monday. Martinez’s eight-extra base hits on the year (6 doubles, 1 triple, 1 homerun) are two more than any other player in the entire International League.

AT THE TOP: OF Jesus Feliciano collected two more hits in last night’s loss to the Chiefs. In four games since being moved to the lead-off spot, Feliciano has hit .368 (7-19) with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. On the season, Feliciano’s .303 batting average leads the Bisons. Last year, the outfielder topped New Orleans’ (AAA) team with a .308 batting average.

SPEED WORK: INF Argenis Reyes stole a pair of bases last night to give him a team-high three on the season. As a team, the Bisons are now 6 of 8 stealing bases this year, good for a 75% success rate. COOP BACK IN THE LOOP: The Bisons’ Modern Era leader in games played, OF Jason Cooper has been activated to the team. Coops’ 410 games played are 10 more than Buffalo Baseball Hall of Famer, Tom Prince. Cooper also ranks in the top 10 in virtually every offense category, including RBI (2nd - 212), doubles (2nd - 81), triples (T2nd - 19) and homeruns (6th - 49).
