Bisons Game Notes
TODAY’S GAME: This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons face the Pawtucket Red Sox in the second game of a four-game series from McCoy Stadium (1:05 p.m.). The PawSox struck first in the series with a 3-2 comeback victory last night. After this series, the Bisons will have an off-day on Wednesday before returning home for an eight-game homestand against Columbus and Lehigh Valley on Thursday.
vs PAWSOX: The Bisons are 1-4 against Pawtucket this season after the Red Sox won a season-opening series at Coca-Cola Field, April 9-12. Buffalo has not lost a season-series to the PawSox since 2005, going 10-6 against Pawtucket in each of the last three seasons.
GOSH GOLLY GEE: RHP Dillon Gee is coming off his best outing as a Bison. On Tuesday against Gwinnett, Gee allowed just one run on three hits in seven innings of a no-decision. He also struck out seven Braves batters. It was the second time in three starts Gee has allowed just one run in seven innings as he threw a complete-game in the first game of a doubleheader on May 2 against Louisville. The Triple-A rookie is tied for the team lead in innings pitched (38.0) and is second to only RHP Brandon Knight (39) with his 34 strikeouts.
F-MART: OF Fernando Martinez now leads the Bisons in all three triple crown categories. The rookie has hit .285 with four home runs and 20RBI. Martinez also collected his first two stolen bases of the season in the last three games.
ALWAYS ON: INF Ramon Martinez has reached safely in all nine games of his Bisons career. The veteran was activated off the DL on May 3 after missing the first 21 games of the season. Since then, Martinez has hit .290 (9-31) with four walks, five runs scored and a .371 on-base percentage.
ANGEL IN NEW YORK: OF Angel Pagan has completed his rehab assignment with the Bisons. He was activated by New York yesterday and pinch-hit in the team’s 9-6 win over the Giants. With the Bisons, Pagan hit .286 (4-14) with two triples and two RBI. He also picked up a pair of outfield assists in the three games he played with Buffalo.
