Pawtucket 4, Herd 3 - F-Mart 2 HRs

Fernando Martinez hit two home runs for Buffalo but it was a two-run shot from Pawtucket's Angel Chavez that game the Red Sox a 4-3 victory over the Herd on Tuesday afternoon from McCoy Stadium.

Each team hit a pair of home runs, but it was Chavez's blast that was the biggest. His two-run shot in the bottom of the eighth inning off Carlos Muniz erased a 3-2 Bisons advantage and gave the PawSox the 4-3 win.

Working in his second inning of relief, Muniz got the first two batters he faced in the eighth to pop out on the infield. First baseman Chris Carter singled to keep the inning alive before Chavez took a 1-1 pitch from Muniz to deep left field for his third home run of the season.

Buffalo threatened in the ninth as Jon Malo walked and advanced to third on a ground out and a wild pitch. However, former Bison Fernando Cabrera was able to strike out Cory Sullivan to earn his seventh save of the season.

Buffalo and Pawtucket traded home runs in the third inning as Martinez got the Bisons on the board with his sixth homer of the season. Iggy Suarez went deep off Herd starter Brandon Knight for his first blast of the season.

Martinez struck again in the fifth inning. A solo shot to lead off the frame gave the Bisons a 3-2 advantage, their third one-run lead of the contest. That stood until Chavez gave the PawSox the only lead they would need in the game.

Brandon Knight pitched well for Buffalo. The veteran left with the lead after six innings of two-run ball. He struck out seven batters in his fifth quality start in seven games.

Martinez finished the game 2-4 with the two home runs. He also homered in Monday night's 9-2 victory over the Red Sox.
