5/28 from MiLB: On the Mend - Cameron Garfield, C - Murrieta Valley HS, Calif. - A good combination of defensive skills and hitting ability normally would make any high school catcher intriguing. An ankle injury, though, cut down on his ability to catch during the season and it's clear he suffered from it. He was trying to make up for it with some good workouts, but it will remain to be seen how high Garfield goes.

He can also hit a pitch or two with some authority. Garfield, a sophomore, had two hits, including a majestic home run, to lead host Murrieta Valley to a 4-0 victory over Vista Murrieta on Friday.

He was hindered by an ankle injury that kept him limited to DH duties for a while. With his season over, Garfield was impressing teams in workouts late in the spring, showing a strong arm and good agility behind the plate. He's got offensive potential, but does tend to overswing at times. The team that believes Garfield will hit is the one that will take him pretty early.
