LAST GAME:
In a game delayed almost two hours due to rain,
the New Hampshire Fisher Cats ended a four-game losing
streak with a 3-2 win over the B-Mets in the opener of a fourgame
set. After retiring the first six in order, Binghamton lefty
Eric Niesen seemingly hit a wall in the third as he allowed five
straight to reach with two outs, including four walks, signaling
his early exit. The Fisher Cats plated three runs in the frame
and would ride those to the win. The B-Mets plated two runs in
the fifth on a two-run single from Jose Coronado, who roped
two hits in three trips to the plate. Jake Ruckle was fantastic
in relief of Niesen, tossing 4.1 scoreless innings of relief without
allowing a hit. However, New Hampshire’s bullpen was
just as good. Southpaw Rommie Lewis tossed 2.2 scoreless
innings in relief of starter Marty McLeary and Danny Farquhar
threw a 1-2-3 ninth for his second save. The 34-year old
McLeary worked a season-best 5.1 innings allowing two runs
to pick up his first win of 2009. Niesen worked 2.2 innings
allowing three runs to take his fourth straight loss.

innings. Brown worked as both a starter and as a reliever in
2008 for Binghamton as well and recorded a 5-8 record with
a 5.46 ERA in 17 starts spanning 94 innings. He was the

RHP Brandon Magee gets the call as the starter for New
Hampshire for the 10th time this year. He last started June 25
at Reading when he took a loss by giving up five runs in six
innings. With the Fisher Cats, he is 4-5 with a 5.06 ERA in 48
innings. He opened the season with Dunedin (High-A) where
he recorded a 2-2 with a 4.26 ERA in 19 innings before being
called up to AA April 29. In 2008, Magee was a member of the
New Hampshire starting rotation. He went 7-13 with a 4.75
ERA in 28 starts for the Fisher Cats last season. Last year he
led the Eastern League in losses (13), complete games (3)
and runs (95). Magee was selected in the fourth round of the
2006 draft out of Bradley University..
