Minor Thoughts From Saturday

1. Chris Mason pitched for St. Lucie on Friday night. Mason is a 2nd round pick in 2005, by Tampa Bay, who has pitched for 4.5 seasons for various Rays teams. Best season was 2007: AA level… 15-4, 2.57… was pitching AAA this year and have no idea why he’s now a Met. Line for the night: 2.0-IP, 2-ER, 9.00

2. DSL P Derlin Soriano was suspended for 50 games for juicing… was 1-1, 1.93 in 8 appearances… now, he can go shit in his hat.

3. 1B Alexander Sanchez continues to heat it up for the DSL Mets. Sanchez went 4-5, with two doubles and two RBI’s on Saturday.

4. Another miserable night for Binghamton. SP Jake Ruckle had another bad outing, giving up nine runs in 2.2 innings. Every B-Met starter is in the toilet, ERA wise, and the sad part is the fact that there’s really no one in St. Lucie to promote. You have to wonder at this point if Ruckle is fully healed from his arm problems that put him on the shelf last season.

5. Kudos to Jonathan Niese for his 1-run seven innings for the Mets Saturday night. I only hope the Mets just leave him in Queens for the rest of the year and let him settle into the SP5 slot for the next couple of years.

6. B-Met 1B Ike Davis continues to impress… hit his 7th AA homer Saturday night and raised his BA to .308.

7. B-Mets RP Emary Frederick got back up on the horse Saturday, after a sub-par outing the night before: 2.0-IP, 1-K, 0-ER. Good bounce-back Deltona.

8. Well, it was only a matter of time before Savannah closer, Rhiner Cruz, would blow his first save. 19 in a row isn’t too shabby. Don’t worry Rhino, star a new one.

It is a shame their are no players at Lucy ready to be promoted. The Sand Gnats have several players having good seasons and deserve to be promoted to Lucy. Maybe next month their will be some movement.

  2. Wally, it's even deeper than that... there's no one in Lucy to promote up... and, right now, there's no one in Binghamton or Buffalo either to promote up...
