LMAO, you think your going to get any of those three for Wagner? Please, Bard is pretty much untochable, let alone for a 38 year old washed up closer. You may be lucky and get Stephen Fife
ReplyDeleteI think the best the Mets can hope for is a prospect in the 10 to 15 range. A guy like Stolmy Pimentel would be a nice target. Another guy would be Ryan Kalish, who is an outfielder.
ReplyDeleteThere's no way that Boston is trading Lars Anderson, Daniel Bard, Michael Bowden, Nick Hagadone, or Casey Kelly, so just forget about it.
Who knows what the Mets will get in the end, if anything, but even in a bad economy, would someone pay 8 mil for one year of Wagner next year? If he is healthy, I think so. If that is the case, the Mets should pick up his option and be able to get at least one pretty good prospect for him next year if the Red Sox won't give up much.
ReplyDeleteAlong the same lines, the Mets could offer arbitration to Wagner and decline his option, in turn getting a first round pick and a sandwich pick. The obvious question is then, would someone give up a first rounder and pay Wagner 8 million? I think there would be a team willing to take that chance, and I am sure the Red Sox realize this. I would rather the Mets get nothing from the Sox if it means not getting a decent prospect, and taking the chance of getting compensation picks for him this winter.
