Alex Cora:
Alex Cora left Thursday's game with a back injury while playing a winter ball game, reports Beisbol Invernal, via MetsBlog.com. There's no word as to the severity of the injury, but clearly, this is not good news. Cora recently inked a $2 million, one-year deal to return to the Mets as backup infielder. Given that most of Cora's value rests on defense, lingering back issues could turn him into a liability fast.
Mack: For Cora’s sake, I hope the ink is dry - rotoworld.
Jason Bay:
If the Mets are really serious about landing Jason Bay, the feeling among baseball executives is they probably are going to have to add a fifth year to their four-year, $63 million offer. Another year — at close to $20 million — could be enough to make the 31-year-old Bay jump back to the NL from Boston. That’s because the Red Sox’s standing offer to Bay since the All-Star break, which Bay turned down, virtually is the same in terms of years and total dollars — four years, $60 million — as the Mets’ deal. - NYP

Dodgers righty James McDonald allowed a run on four hits over seven innings for the Tigres - mlb
