According to Ken Davidoff of Newsday, free agent catcher Bengie Molina is seeking a three-year deal from the Mets. Molina is obviously taking a look around at the two-year contracts that guys like Ivan Rodriguez and Jason Kendall are inking. He certainly feels he's more valuable and it'd be hard to argue against that. The catcher hit just .265/.285/.442 this past season but mashed 20 home runs.
-Mack: here's the problem... there's such a thing as "market value" and, right now, market value on old men in baseman is a mutli-year contract. Cameron just got one without even two teams offerring it... the Mets should tell Molina's agent to suck and egg, go to camp with Thole, Santos, and Blanco, and see what happens...
Arecibo Lobos (12-9) - Philipp Cuadrado is a new addition to the Lobos lineup and he is only hitting .419. He’s also walked eight times against two whiffs. For his five game hitting streak Philipp was 8 for 16, scoring four runs in the first three games and then driving in four runs in his last three games of the streak. Michel Abreu went deep three times for the week to up his league leading homerun total to seven. His closest pursuer has just three homeruns. Michel had three two hit games and drove in eight runs with the three homeruns in two games. - myob
Bill Pulsipher picked up his fourth loss against no wins, getting smacked around for five runs and eight hits in a little over three innings. This was his worst outing of his five starts. The opposition is now hitting him at a .378 clip. The starting pitching has been struggling this past week in their three game losing streak and it is difficult to find any pitcher with a modicum of success.
Mack: well... this loks like the last time we'll hear from him... how sad it is when someone can't move on with a little dignity
Alex Cora played six games and went 5 for 21 before back problems ended his season earlier than he wanted. - mwob
Mack: - I haven't heard anything since the announcement was made and I'll try to find out today the extent of the injury
