Kevin Ziomek:
http://www.minorleagueball.com/2010/4/23/1437780/25-additional-pitching-prospects - LHP, Amherst Regional High School, Massachusetts - A cold-weather high schooler, Ziomek has a Vanderbilt commitment and may be tough to sign if he doesn't go early enough in the draft. He features an average fastball at 86-88 MPH, but his slider, curveball, and changeup are all advanced considering his background and he has a good feel for pitching. He may best be served going to college, but someone interested in a good cold-weather arm could take a stab early enough to sign him. The Red Sox often grab New England guys and aren't afraid to take signability risks.
Brodie Greene
4-22-10 from: - http://www.mlbbonusbaby.com/2010/4/22/1435556/casing-the-states-texas-part-two - , OF, Texas A&M - Greene was a solid prospect a year ago, when as a junior he made himself into one of the better college second basemen available for the draft. However, he had a strong desire to return to school, and he ended up falling to the 37th round, where the Phillies took him as a late-round flier. He moved back to his more natural position, center field, this spring, but he had to move back to the infield out of necessity for his team, though he's been installed at shortstop instead of second base. A solid hitter with fringe-average power and plus speed, he's a good offensive threat, though some teams doubt his power more than others. He also doesn't really work the count as much as he should, and he's never going to walk enough to be a top of the order hitter. Defensively, he's not going to be a long-term shortstop, and even though he's more natural in center field, he might fit best moving back across the bag to second base. He has solid tools there, featuring above-average range and an average arm, and with repetitions, he could be an above-average defender there. His time at shortstop is only helping reinforce that feeling. Greene has really surprised some people this spring with his versatility, and he's been moving up draft boards consistently. Projected Draft Range: 6th-12th Round
Cory Hahn:
4-22 from: http://baseballbeginnings.com/2010/04/22/three-orange-county-left-handers - Mater Dei’s LHP Cory Hahn can and should go both ways at Arizona State. Hahn’s got a change-up for right-handers, creates deception, trusts the pitch and commands it. His fastball has some life but little power. There’s also a show-me slider mixed in. Hahn does a decent job of pitching to both sides and likes to keep it up-tempo. I’d want to see him in the future as a pitcher, but my immediate feeling would be that this guy will be better served playing three years of college baseball to prove that he’s a player somewhere and more than a fringy little guy.
Gabriel Encinas:
4-22 from: - http://www.baseballrumormill.com/2010/04/southern-california-high-school-pitching-prospects - St. Paul High School, RHP - He easily delivers a 90-92 fastball and adds a 74-75 curve and 77-78 change. To his credit, Encinas has improved his fitness this season and was able to maintain his velocity deep into the contest. Encinas recently faced off against California hitting prospect Angelo Gumbs and completely shut him down, striking him out twice in three at-bats. In the outing he displayed smooth mechanics and an advanced feel for pitching, doing a laudable job of mixing speeds, locations, altering eye levels and switching pitch sequence patterns from at bat to at bat
