TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Bisons take on the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in the final game of a four-game series from Coca-Cola Park (7:05 p.m.). The Herd lost last night, 6-3, snapping its five-game win streak. Despite the loss, the Bisons lead the series with the IronPigs, 2-1. The Bisons will return home to face the Toledo Mud Hens to start an eight-game homestand on May 27.
vs. THE IRONPIGS: Despite last night’s defeat, Buffalo still leads the series with Lehigh Valley, 2-1. With a victory tonight, the Bisons will earn a first series victory at Coca-Cola Park. Buffalo lost both road series in Lehigh Valley in 2009 and have just one split in four sets at Coca-Cola Park.
MOUND WORK: LHP PAT MISCH is 4-0 in his last five starts with the Herd. The southpaw has been especially tough in his last two games, allowing just one combined run on seven hits in 16 innings of work. He threw a complete-game four-hit shutout on May 15 against Norfolk and allowed just three hits in seven innings to beat Charlotte last Thursday.
BACK IN MOTION: OF MIKE CERVENAK was activated of the disabled list on Sunday after missing 17 games with right plantar fasciitis. In the last two games, Cervenak has gone 3-9 (.333) against his former team. Last night, the former IronPigs All-Star went 2-4 with a double, a run and RBI.
HIT MACHINE: OF JESUS FELICIANO went 0-4 last night to lose his team-high 12-game hit streak. However, Feliciano still leads the International League with a .372 average. His average is 36 points higher than any other player. Feliciano is also second in the league for on-base percentage (.424)
HESS IS THE BEST: INF MIKE HESSMAN still leads the International League in home runs (14) and RBI (48). Hessman also leads in extra-base hits (29) and total bases (106). Hessman is tied for second in runs scored (33) and doubles (15). Hessman is also second in the IL for slugging percentage (.642).
ROSTER MOVE: INF DANIEL MURPHY has joined the Herd after being optioned by the Mets. Murphy led the Mets in home runs (12) and games played (155) in the 2009 season. Murphy batted a .275 with 27 doubles and 80RBI in two seasons with the Mets. To make roster room, OF D.J. WABICK has been transferred to Double-A Binghamton Mets.
METS UPDATE: The Mets (22-23) had an off day yesterday. New York hosts Philadelphia tonight for the start of a three-game series with the Phillies (7:10 p.m.) Former Bisons RHP R.A. DICKEY will make his second start for New York tonight.
