FOUR ST. LUCIE METS NAMED TO FSL ALL STAR TEAM

Port St. Lucie, Fla. - The Florida State League announced today the league selections for the 2010 North and South All-Star Teams. The All-Star Game will be played at Space Coast Stadium in Viera, Florida on Saturday, June 12th at 7:35 PM.

Representing the St. Lucie Mets in Viera will be outfielder Sean Ratliff and second baseman Josh Satin. Pitchers Manuel Alvarez and Chris Schwinden were also selected as All Stars but will not be in Viera as they have recently been promoted to Double-A Binghamton.

Outfielder Sean Ratliff has been named to his second All Star team as a professional. He was selected as a South Atlantic League All Star in 2009 as a member of the Savannah Sand Gnats before finishing the season with St. Lucie. This season, Ratliff is batting .282 with five homeruns, 25 RBI, 32 runs scored and seven stolen bases. Ratliff was the Mets 4th round selection in the 2008 first year player draft out of Stanford University.

Infielder Josh Satin was drafted in the 8th round of the 2008 first year player draft by the New York Mets out of the University of California-Berkley. Satin is also making his second All Star appearance as a pro. Satin was selected as a member of the 2009 South Atlantic All Star team while playing for the Savannah Sand Gnats. This season, Satin leads the Mets with a .320 batting average. He has recorded 13 doubles, 4 homeruns and driven in 28 runs.

Pitcher Manuel Alvarez was recently promoted to Double-A Binghamton after 18 appearances as the St. Lucie Mets closer. Alvarez recorded a 3-1 record with nine saves and 24 strikeouts while holding opposing batters to a .148 average over 25.2 innings. He allowed only two unearned runs while sporting a 0.00 ERA during his 2010 St. Lucie Mets campaign. Alvarez was signed by the Montreal Expos as a non-drafted free agent in 2004.

Pitcher Chris Schwinden was the Mets 22nd round pick in the 2008 first year player draft out of Fresno Pacific. Before being promoted to Double-A Binghamton, Schwinden had a 3-0 record with a 1.83 ERA covering seven appearances.
