From Press Release:
The Rome Braves defeated the Savannah Sand Gnats 4-0 Friday night in front of 3,384 fans at State Mutual Stadium. Braves pitcher, Arodys Vizcaino, pitched eight shut out innings, extending his streak to three starts without giving up an earned run. Rome’s record now stands at 21-27.
Rome scored their first run of the game in the first inning on a double steal that scored Kyle Rose for the 1-0 lead. That run was all the Braves needed as Vizcaino and Thomas Berryhill combined for the shut out win.
The Braves added three runs in the eighth for the 4-0 final. Matt Weaver singled to center to score Braeden Schlehuber. Jace Whitmer scored on a double play ball to make the score 3-0. Robert Hefflinger doubled to right to bring home Cory Harrilchak for the final run of the game.
The game was dominated by the pitching on each side. Vizcaino and Berryhill for Rome combined for a five hit shut out with zero walks and seven strikeouts. Savannah’s starter, Brandon Moore, was the hard luck loser after pitching seven innings, giving up just one run on five hits with ten strikeouts.
Arodys Vizcainol (7-3) earns the win for Rome while Moore (2-3) is charged with his third loss of the season for Savannah.
MOORE should be chosen for the SAL AllStar team. Why? Although he was stuck with the hard-luck loss last night, he was still able to strike out 10 batters, issue 0 walks, give up 5 hits, and 1 run (on a strike out double steal. Moore lowered his ERA to 1.92. With these stats, that makes Moore #1 in the South Atlantic League with 67 Strikeouts, and #3 in the SAL for Walks, HIts, Innings Pitched (WHIP) His ERA is 9th in the league. He also has 2 saves from when he was used as a piggyback pitcher in the beginning of the season. As far as the SandGnats goes, he is #1 in both Strikeouts and WHIP, and #1 for starting pitchers with the least amount of Walks issued. I'm hoping his 2-3 record doesn't hurt him for ALLSTARS~can't blame him for his his team's lack of hitting.
ReplyDeleteYou are quite the Brandon Moore fan... mom...
ReplyDeleteI'm not big fans of players going to all-star games. I'd rather them sit by the pool and get some well deserved down time.
Brandon's problem is not his ability at the A-level, but the fact that he is blocked and getting older every day.
