2011 DRAFT: - Dante Bichette,Brian Billigen, Scott McGough, Phillip Evans... and Matt Jensen

Dante Bichette:

7-13-10: - MaxPreps Junior All-American Baseball Team – Dante Bichette Jr., Orangewood Christian (Maitland, Fla.), Infield - Named the Central Florida Player of the Year by the Orlando Sentinel, Bichette batted .597 with 36 runs, 37 RBI, and 9 home runs. The son of the former Major Leaguer by the same name, Bichette has committed to play at Georgia.

Brian Billigen:

7-22-10 from: - link  - OF, Brian Billigen, Cornell, L/L, 6' 180, listed his name for top Ivy Leaguers to watch for this spring, he had an ok year but I wasn't able to see him until this summer. Billigen has power and great size to intrigue or detract, throwing wise, arm is ok, throws a bit funky and has loop in his swing but is strong with upper body. Running wise, he's ave at best, 4.3 mostly from LH side, said to run sub 6.8,60.

Scott McGough:

7-23-10 from: - link  - USA CNT Roster Breakdown, Spring Stat Links and Trials Notes: - Scott McGough - RHRP So. Univ. of Oregon - Trials Notes: McGough is one of two "true" relievers on the squad and should log significant innings at the back-end of the pen. The Oregon reliever was 88-90 mph, touching 92, and struggled some to hit his spots. He also threw an upper-70s slider that broke 80 mph with some tilt. The bite on the slide piece was inconsistent, though McGough showed a high level of comfort with the pitch and was willing to throw it in various situations. He throws with a slight shoulder tug that can affect the consistency of his release, which may be the culprit in his spotty fastball command and inconsistent bite on the slider. While he is quick enough to home (1.22-1.34) to make stealing a challenge, he can also become preoccupied with baserunners at the expense of his focus at the plate.

Phillip Evans:

7-25 from: - link  - I like Evans more than I do Cron, and I think he has a legitimate shot to stick at shortstop in the long run, though he’s a fringe-average runner, if not below-average. He has great footwork and an above-average arm, and his bat is definitely first round caliber. Solid-average power potential and a good swing for average, too. Very good player for his age, though there’s the concern that his lack of speed will hamper his range in the long run.

Matt Jensen:

7-25-10 from: - link : - Matt Jensen- Cal Poly (2B)- Jensen was a much heralded 2B out of Clovis, CA who has had two significant injuries each of his first two seasons. His true freshman year he batted .375 with nine (9) bombs in only 160 AB's before breaking a collarbone. Matt is known as a hit first (with power) average defender with average speed. He was a finalist to join Team USA and entered 2010 with a lot of fanfare. Unfortunately he started slowly and ended at .270 with a nearly 1:1 BB/SO ratio and this season ended in a wrist injury. Therefore given my comments above about consistencey, I'm not sure what scouts will end up doing with him draft wise. If he retuns to his 2009 level he will go high, if not it is round 10-15.
