The Princeton Rays offense had their way with the Kingsport Mets in an 11-2 victory Wednesday, Jul 28, an a special noon game start at Hunnicutt Field. Jacob Partridge pitched five innings allowing no runs on just four hits to pick up his team leading fourth win of the season.



Ruben Contreras led the way at the plate for the P-Rays going 3-5 with three RBIs. "Contreras is really hitting the ball well lately. He is also a very good base runner and makes a lot of tough plays look easy," P-Rays' manager Michael Johns said.



In the bottom of the first inning, Todd Glaesmann doubled to extend his hitting streak to eight consecutive games. He was stranded at third base after advancing to third base on a wild pitch. "Glaesmann is a guy that we know can really hit the ball and he is very mature for a 19-year-old. We are expecting big things from him throughout the remainder of the season," Johns added.



The P-Rays got their first run in the bottom of the second inning. Hector Guevara and Gerardo Olivares both drew walks off of Mets starting pitcher Brett Mitchell. Geno Glynn then singled to right field to drive home Guevara for his first RBI of the season.

The offense exploded in the third inning with some help from Mitchell. Mitchell surrendered a triple to Kevin Kiermaier to lead off the inning, and then hit Glaesmann, and then walked Scott Lawson to load the bases with no one out for Ruben Contreras.



Contreras connected on a fastball from Mitchell and got himself a two RBI double to give the P-Rays a 3-0 lead. Cesar Guillen followed him by grounding out to second base and knocking in Lawson to make it 4-0. Guevara then hit a sacrifice fly to score Contreras making it 5-0 P-Rays. Felix Gonzalez picked right up where the offense left off and started the bottom of the fourth inning with a base hit to right field. After Glaesman was again hit by a pitch, Lawson ripped an RBI single back the middle and Contreras followed with an RBI single of his own making it 7-0 P-Rays.



This brought Guillen to the plate with the bases loaded. He hit a sacrifice fly to right field and the throw into home hit Glaesmann and allowed Lawson and Contreras to both score as well, making it 10-0 after the fourth inning. The P-Rays would tack on one more run in the seventh inning when Gonzalez brought Guevara home to make it 11-0.
