Rochester 2, Buffalo 0

from press release:

Starting pitcher Ramon Ortiz was in the middle of a pitcher's duel in his last outing against the Rochester Red Wings when the Bisons won 1-0. Tonight's game at Fifth Third Field saw Ortiz going back and forth with Mud Hens starter Alfredo Figero in another duel but unfortunately he came out on the losing end as the Herd lost 2-0.

Ortiz pitched another great game and gave the Bisons his fourth quality start in his seventh start with the Herd. Ortiz (1-3) tossed seven strong innings while giving up seven hits and two runs with only one of them being earned.

Toledo got on the board in the third inning as Ortiz hit Max Leon in the foot on a 0-2 pitch. Leon was moved over to second on the sacrifice bunt from Robinson Diaz and then scored on the next at-bat when Justin Henry singled to center field, giving Toledo a 1-0 advantage.

The Mud Hens then received a gift of an insurance run in the sixth inning. With one out and two men aboard Ben Guez hit a grounder right up the middle that was scooped up by Ruben Tejada. Tejada got the force out at second and looked to turn two but his throw to first baseman Mike Hessman got away from him allowing Guez to reach safely at first and Ryan Strieby to score from second. Ortiz would strike out Leon in the next at-bat to end the inning but the Mud Hens added a little bit of cushion to their lead due to the error.

Fernando Martinez gave the Bisons a little bit of hope when he led off the inning with a single. Hessman could not sink his former team as he did back on May 27th as he popped out to second for the first out. Mike Jacobs then singled to bring the go-ahead run to the plate.
