7-26 from: - link - Here are some names of draft eligibles for 2011 who have not been mentioned much and are definitely on the radar for 2011 MLB scouting depts. - RHP -Tanner Peters, UNLV, 6'0 160, little righty with big cb and good fb, low 90's mostly, competes, stamina is ok and will be watched closely this coming year for sure.
7-29-10 from: - link - RHP, Carl Edwards, talk about your stringbean pitchers, this kid has a very quick arm with hard bite on his 12/6 cb, from Newberry SC, 6'2 1/2 150 soaking wet, was upper 80's mostly and threw strikes. He's also one of the oldest participants as he turns 18 soon and will be a 2011 senior.
7-30-10 from: - link - • R.J. Alvarez, RHP, Florida Atlantic -- Heading into just his sophomore campaign, Alvarez stood out as one of the best pure arms in the proceedings. Alvarez sat 94-95 mph with his fastball, reaching 96 a handful of times. He has worked exclusively in relief on the Cape but Alvarez showed the secondary pitches to potentially be a successful starter at the next level. He mixed a sharp, downer curveball at 78-80, which flashed plus, as well as a quality changeup at 80-84.
7-29-10 from: - link - Deion Williams played 3b on the day and had one of the hardest hit balls for a double over the LF head that hit the warning track some 335 feet away. He has that rangy body that should fill out with quick twitch muscles to be able to play where ever you want to put him, except behind the dish. He's said to play some SS today, we shall see.
7-31 from: - link - Deion played his position well, I like his actions at SS more, but it's good to see he went out there and played 2b and 3b. He's so rangy in build and his arm is fluid that he could play anywhere. If I was a collegiate coach, I'd even tinker with putting him on the hill to see what he possesses because he learns so quickly and his arm has strength to it. His wriy build in time will fill out and he has raw strength. The ball jumped off the bat when he squared it up well and he made contact vs each pitcher he faced, albeit, he wasn't facing kids in the upper 80's and low 90's quite like he did at TOS. I didn't see the PG events he attended, so I don't know how he did there. He's on my list to see for the spring and I know he's on the list of many. One scout I'll leave anonymous told me he turned him in as a 48 follow, 48 overall future potential. He didn't blaze down the base line but we know he can run, just not quick out of the box like some flyers are. He can improve that time with some minor work.
8-1 from: - link - He has all the tools to be a plus at the plate and behind it. I think he’s rawer than some say, but he could be an above-average hitter with plus power, and he has a plus arm with good footwork and decent receiving skills. He’s also a decent athlete, definitely more athletic than a regular catcher. I like him quite a bit, but I’m cautious with all high school catchers. I still don’t see him as being as polished as a lot of places say he is.
