from press release:
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs put an end to an eight-game losing streak on Tuesday night with a 6-1 victory over the Buffalo Bisons at Coca-Cola Field.
The eight-game skid was the IronPigs longest of the season and was the team's third longest in their three-year franchise history. The loss for the Bisons halted Buffalo's four-game winning streak and kept the Herd from their first four-game sweep since 2007.
The IronPigs struck first in the top of the first inning on a Melvin Dorta RBI base hit to score Rich Thompson, who led off the frame with a double and give Lehigh Valley a 1-0 lead.
However, the Bisons would come right back in the fourth inning to tie it at one after Valentino Pascucci stung a ball into left-center field to score Lucas Duda.
With runners on the corners and one out in the fifth the IronPigs would retake the lead and keep it for good after Chris Aguila hit a base knock up the middle, scoring Dorta and putting Lehigh Valley on top 2-1. They would go on to add two more runs in each the sixth and eighth innings.
Bisons starter Tobi Stoner dropped to 5-10 on the year, surrendering four runs on ten hits and four walks through 5.1 innings.
The Herd has an off day tomorrow, before getting action back underway in downtown Buffalo on Thursday night, as the Columbus Clippers make their lone visit to Coca-Cola Field as part of a four game series.
