Bisons Place OF Fernando Martinez on Disabled list
C Mike Nickeas Promoted to Herd
The Buffalo Bisons today announced that C MIKE NICKEAS has been promoted to the team from Double-A Binghamton. Nickeas is active for the Bisons game against the Pawtucket Red Sox on Wednesday, August 25.
The Bisons also announced that they have placed OF FERNANDO MARTINEZ on the disabled list, retroactive to August 23, with right knee soreness.
Nickeas, 27, hit .283 (75-265) with 15 doubles, five home runs and 33RBI in 82 games with Binghamton. He also averaged .329 (24-73) with 29RBI while hitting with runners in scoring position. Behind the plate, Nickeas has thrown out 36% of would-be base stealers (27 CS, 76 ATT) at Double-A.
Nickeas played in two games with the Bisons in 2009 and went hitless in six at-bats.
Martinez has hit .253 (65-257) with 12 home runs and 33RBI in 71 games with the Herd this season.
The Mets jerked F-Mart around witrh that call-up. I stand by that. I hope your computer problems are almost at an end.

ReplyDeleteRe: F-Mart... here's the bottom line... Jerry Manual does not like Fernando Martinez or Nick Evans and neither will ever be a full time Met as long as Manual is the skipper. Period.
