Savannah 5 Charleston 3(First Game of DH)

The first game of the double header at Grayson Stadium Friday saw the Sand Gnats hit the long ball to defeat the RiverDogs, 5-3.

Savannah trailed 2-1, when the Gnats exploded for 4 runs in the 5th inning. 2bAlonzo Harrissingled, stole second, and scored when ssRobbie Shields hit a home run to left field. 1bTravis Ozga reached first on a fielders choice and scored on a home run by lfR. J. Harris(his 6th home run of the year).

Savannah had 8 hits for the game. dhJordan Abruzzo was 2-for-3 with one RBI. 2bAlonzo Harris went 1-for-3, scored 2 runs and stole 2 bases.

Sand Gnat starting pitcher,Collin McHugh, picked up the win and is now 5-8. He pitched 5 innings, gave up 2 runs on 4 hits, struck out 4, and walked three. Marcos Tabata pitched one inning of shutout baseball. Brandon Sage went one inning allowing one run on 2 hits and picked up his 6th save of the season.
