CUTNPASTE: - Kevin Mitchell, Mejia on His Injury, Ollie, K-Rod... and Lucas Duda

Kevin Mitchell:

On Thursday, a judge in Chula Vista, CA ordered the 48 year old Mitchell to stand trial from an incident at the Bonita Golf Course. In July, Mitchell allegedly punched another golfer in the head repeatedly, nearly causing the man to suffer a concussion. The individual, whose name has not been released, was confronted by Mitchell for supposedly making ‘disparaging remarks’ about him.

Mejia on His Injury:

link  - Mejia said he was relieved that he didn't need surgery and that the feeling now is more about the healing process going forward. He did not rule out the possibility of pitching this winter in the Dominican Republic. "He thinks he can still pitch in winter ball," Pagan said. "He thinks he can recover you know, get fully healed so he can go back to the Dominican and pitch in winter ball. It's nothing that worries him too much, not like the first injury."

Oliver Perez:

link  - The contract: 2009, 3 years, $36 million - The injury: Patella tendinitis in right knee - What went wrong: His velocity vanished after his knee began to bother him in 2009. In turn, he now more or less serves no purpose on the roster. After he refused a minor-league assignment, manager Jerry Manuel returned the favor by refusing to let him pitch. Ever. Perez has pitched five times since returning from the DL on July 20. He has not won a game this year.

K-Rod:

link #ixzz0zh8zCBv1 - The animosity between the Mets and troubled closer Francisco Rodriguez could be on display for all to see - in color - when the ballclub's 2010 team picture comes out. Rodriguez and Johan Santana were the only Mets who could not attend the photo shoot before Wednesday night's game. Club officials said that Santana, who is recovering from shoulder surgery, would be photo-shopped into the image. When a report surfaced on ESPNNewYork.com that a club official said K-Rod would not be in the picture, a team spokesman was non-committal.

Lucas Duda:

link  - 2010 Sterling Player of the Year: Lucas Duda - Duda split time during the 2010 campaign between Binghamton (AA) and Buffalo (AAA). In 114 games between the two stops, he hit .304 (129-424) with 74 runs scored, 40 doubles, 23 home runs and 87 RBI. After being promoted to Buffalo in mid-June he hit .314 (83-264) with 44 runs scored, 23 doubles, two triples, 17 home runs and 53 RBI in 70 games. The lefthanded-hitting Duda tied a Buffalo franchise record with a home run in five consecutive games from June 28th to July 2nd. In 2007, Duda made his professional debut with Brooklyn, and was a standout hitter for the '07 McNamara Division championship team, splitting time between first base and left field. He hit .299 (70-for-234) that year, with 32 runs, 20 doubles, three triples, four home runs, 32 RBI, and three stolen bases. Duda also hit a mammoth home run in Game One of the NYPL Semi-Finals to help Brooklyn beat Staten Island, who they would go on to sweep before losing in the Championship Series. Duda's 17-game hitting streak in 2007 still stands as the longest in franchise history.
