Aderlin Rodriquez:
9-30-10 from: - http://scoutingthesally.com/2010/09/stss-best-the-first-basemen-v-2011 - In terms of frame and the ability to project future size. Rodriguez could turn out to be a “monster”. Add to this an advanced eye at the plate and he becomes one of the highest ceiling prospects in a suspect system. In the South Atlantic League playoffs, I could argue he was the best hitting prospect on a field which included two, first round draft picks in Kolbrin Vitek and Reymond Fuentes. However, Rodriguez isn’t particularly athletic, has a soft body, and long swing which he will need to cut down. If I’m the Mets, a personal trainer for Rodriguez is already in the works to be sure he’s primed for a breakout 2011 campaign.
Attendence Decline:
http://bleacherreport.com/tb/b692Y - The dropoff, while steep, isn't record-setting. At 16.5 percent, the attendance decline would be the eighth-worst one-year drop in franchise history, according to ESPN Stats & Information. (The seasons in which the Mets moved into new ballparks -- 1964 and 2009 -- are omitted since the older venues had different capacities.) The worst declines: 24.6 percent in 1977 (when attendance was 13,504), followed by 23.6 percent two years later (when attendance was 9,621). Those were 98- and 99-loss seasons, during Joe Torre's tenure as manager.
Omar:
http://bleacherreport.com/tb/b692R - I don't doubt the firing part of that, but I'd be surprised if he was simply allowed to dangle like that. He still has a year on his contract paying him a couple million bucks. The Mets clearly don't get the concept of sunk costs -- See Perez, Oliver -- so they'd probably be loathe to simply write him a check to go sit on a beach someplace. Less cynically, Minaya, for all of his faults, has a reputation as an excellent scout and is on record saying that he really misses and enjoys doing it. If he's released, another team would probably hire him, and that would certainly bug the Mets. It would make sense, then, for the Mets to use him in a scouting capacity somehow. Maybe not out holding a gun down in the Texas League or whatever, but certainly helping out in some fashion.

Dickey Payday:
http://benmaller.com/tag/mlb - Mets GM Omar Minaya tabbed R.A. Dickey before the season as someone “in that pool of insurance guys.” Now he appears a key piece of the 2011 rotation. Eligible for arbitration, Dickey (11-8, 2.92 ERA) should after this season receive some compensation, a seven-figure influx to aid his family. Yet they still refuse to plan for it. “I think that’s what’s so crazy,” Anne (his wife) said. “Like, I want to be so thankful. But it’s just been taken away so many times that there’s enough people to get ahead of the situation for me.” Dickey will turn 36 next month. He plans to train for a triathlon, travel with his family. They know this much: Their fourth child is due on Opening Day 2011. They will take everything else moment by moment. – Newark Star-Ledger
