Cutnpaste: - Mets Uniforms, Henry Blanco, Armondo Rodriquez, Charlie Samuels, and Jason Bay

Mets Uniforms:

The Worst: They’ve never been horrendous — kudos to the Mets for keeping their heads about them through the 1970s — but one of the worst things they ever did was to go wacky with the black caps and alternate jerseys they introduced a few years ago. Less offensive are the solid home whites, but they’re still sub-optimal, as this is one of the few teams who should be pinstriped. And the less said about those blue things from the 80s the better. But while the blues may look terrible, I’ll go with the blacks being the actual worst. Why? Because they were obviously calculated to sell product whereas those blues were just the Mets getting on the multi-color 70s bus a bit later than everyone else. We’re all allowed an occasional transgression, right?

 Henry Blanco:

2011 Projection - Henry Blanco will not return to the Mets as a player in 2011, mainly because he is old and has nothing to offer offensively, but also because fellow Venezuelan Johan Santana is unlikely to throw a pitch. However, he is by all accounts a “good guy” with baseball acumen, so maybe he’ll latch on as a coach in the organization. Personally, I hope he doesn’t attain a role as an instructor, because his catching mechanics are atrocious, but I could see him evolving into a pitching coach or manager at some point.

Armondo Rodriquez:

11-10-10 from: - scouting the sally  - In 2011, Rodriguez is likely to open the season in the Port St. Lucie rotation as he continues to refine his breaking pitches. As a prospect, I consider him to be a poor man’s Jeurys Familia. Not only is Rodriguez older, but he lacks the fastball velocity and bite on breaking pitches to be considered an equivalent prospect. If Familia’s struggles in high-A are any indication of how Rodriguez will fair, 2011 may be a rough year. On top of that, I just don’t know how I can possibly project 90-92 MPH with fringe breaking stuff as a future big leaguer. In trying to run the big league scenarios for a pitcher with his arsenal through my head, I just don’t see where he fits into a major league pitching staff.

Charlie Samuels:

Charlie Samuels joined the Mets' clubhouse staff as a raw teenager in 1976, but he's always been more than just the guy that orders jerseys and bats. Samuel has been a fixer, a counselor and a confidant for nearly four decades.

Need a place to crash? Need to get your car washed and waxed? Baby mama drama? For scores of players passing through Shea Stadium and Citi Field over the years, Samuels, the clubhouse manager for 27 years, was the man to see, whether you needed extra tickets or simply a shoulder to cry on

 Jason Bay:

Trade: Sent to San Diego in Steve Reed deal

After trade: 1,017 games played, .278/.374/.508 OPS+ 129

Analysis – Poor trade for the Mets. It’s never a good idea to swap a 30-HR guy for a middle reliever.
