Prospects in the news…
LHP Jake Cave continues to impress this off-season, first in the AFLAC games, and now at the WWBA.
Cave plays for Hampton Christian High School (10-0) and has committed to play for LSU, but there’s a good chance he will never step on that mound come draft day.
Look, the kid struck out 18 batters in the WWBA 16-U final game. There’s no chance MLB won’t pounce on this one.
I’ve got Cave listed as an outfielder (figures…) and 5-Tool has him listed as the 48th overall pick. Draft Site has him 90th, he’s 76th at PG, and 53rd with Toss It Around.

One of the stars of the Impact Baseball’s Future Games was RHP Max Povse, out of Green Hope High School, in North Carolina.
He posted a 0.97 ERA, giving up only 5-ER in 36.0-IP… 89-91 FB, 11-5 75-77 curve, 81-83 change-up… RHP - 6-8, 185… 7.74 60-yard dash…
He’s a new one to my lists, but you have to keep an eye on someone that is a junior in high school, at 6-8.

Another newbie… LHP Corey Stump, from Lakeland Christian High School, in Florida.
This is a 6-5, 195 lefty who has committed to the University of Florida. Pitched AAU this summer under former major leaguer Chet Lemon… pitched in the East Coast Pro Showcase (1.2-IP, 1-ER, 3-H, 1-BB, 5-K) in August… 85-89 fast ball, which touches 90 and a 72-74 curve… 6-5, 195…

And lastly…
Lots of positive chatter about LHP Andrew Suarez… missed the summer with an arm injury but quickly catching back up with an excellent showing in the WWBA… touhed 90 in four excellent innings. BA said he had an “easy, repeatable delivery”.
I’ve currently got Suarez as the 6th overall LHP in the draft, which should be a late second round pick at worst.
