IMO, there is no one on this list worth keeping. I’m in a “2012” mode and Feliciano wouldn’t fit into my plans that far. I would much rather get a supplement pick in the 2011 draft, which is stronger than usual. It also represents a pick by a new administration that is going to repect this process a lot more than Omar and Company.
Three over-slotted picks in the first two rounds could be the difference regarding how well your team plays in, say, 2014.
Don’t tell me three draft picks (i.e. San Francisco Giants) can’t make a difference.

John had at number five: - 5) Fernando Martinez, OF, Grade B-: Stock is starting to slip. Still young, still has potential, but development hampered by injuries and poor handling by previous front office. May need change of scenery.
I have Martinez does to 18th, which may have some home-town emotion attached to it. I’m simply over him, as I am with other, IMO, failed prospects like Brad Holt and Robert Carson (ya wanna prove me wrong guys? fine… go out and do your job…).
Most of us always felt that F-Mart should be playing in the same outfield as Carlos Gomez and Lastings Milledge, but very few of us thought that outfield should be in Queens.
He’s still young enough to make it to the pros and everyone agrees that the raw tools are there. I just think that only Omar would have given this kid the extra time he needs, and I expect new management to look elsewhere for their future outfield promotions.

I had no problem with this at all. Everyone knows there will be internal members of the Mets interviewing for this position, but none of them will be granted an interview date until the entire process starts.
The manager will manage the team that the General Manager gives him. That’s the way the big boys approach this game.
Don’t be surprised other suits are hired way before a manager comes aboard.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis struck out three times Monday night, raising his AWL total to 13-Ks.
No one roots hard for the Captain, but we’ve spoken before about the holes in his swing. He ended the season on a sour note in AAA and 13-Ks in 52-AB in a winter league, against pitching that would not currently hack it in the majors, just adds fire to the fuel… or, well, you know what I mean.

I caught this online over at BA:
Chris S (Long Island, NY): Would you start Wilmer Flores at High Class A or Double A next season, and what would you do concerning his position?
Jim Callis: High Class A, move him to third base.
This would change some projections… this would basically leave the AA SS/3B slots to be split up between three organizational players, Jose Coronado, Richard Lucas, and Matt Bouchard.
Robbie Shields and Flores would be your starters at Lucy, but what do you do with Jenry Marte.
Moreover, Savannah gets all stuffed up at third, with Aderlin Rodriquez and Brian Harrison.
Still, it is an interesting plan.
