Ex-Mets Minor League Tranactions:
3B Shaun Bowman was signed by the Atlanta Braves... from BA: A solid defender at the hot corner, Bowman hit 22 homers and slugged .484 for Double-A New Hampshire (Blue Jays) this season
1B Justin Huber signed with the Minnesota Twins - The 28-year-old Huber hit .220 with seven homers in 177 at-bats for Hiroshima this year

Mack Ade
Terry Collins comments that Daniel Murphy will be fighting it out with Luis Castillo for the 2B job, If this is true, and nota trading ploy for Castillo, that it’s going to be hard to find playing time for Ruben Tejada. I’m going to sit on this for a few weeks and see what, if anything develops. Having Castillo, Reyes and Murphy fighting it out for the middle infield spots, would strength the utility positions for Luis Hernandez and Justin Tucker, and Tejada would be best served returning to AAA for a few season. That would really fluck up the soup… do you play him at shortstop, instead of Jordany Valdespin, and you still have Josh Satin and Reese Havens over at second. We’ll’ see about this later…

Pedro Feliciano was the first flinch in the Mexican standoff on how to handle old Mets problems by new Mets suits. Yes, this the only way the Met have any chance of supplement draft pick, but Feliciano is never going to find another team to accomplish the kind of deal he will be awarded. No Sandy and Company panicked after the loss of two lefties, Valdez and Takahashi. IMO, a weak move by the Mets

Players that have worn Terry Collins’ number (and players that won’t have their number retired as long as he’s around): Rod Kanehl , Kevin Collins, Greg Goossen, Mike Jorgensen, Duffy Dyer, Rusty Staub, Kelvin Chapman,Dave Magadan, Jeff Torborg, Butch Huskey, David Segui, Tom McCraw, Gary Thurman, Kevin Morgan, Roberto Petagine, Rey Ordonez, Rey Sanchez, Anyone else named Rey, Joe DePastino, Jeff Duncan, Brian Buchanan, Joe Hietpas, Shingo Takatsu, Endy Chavez, and Gary Sheffield

Continuing our prospect slotting…

61. OF/IF Eric Campbell – I’ve really gone up and down on Campbell recently. First, I have to say that I have seen him play in Savannah and I don’t remember being very impressed (.360 slugging). That being said, a beefed up version showed up in 2010 and pounded out .306/10-HR, 51-RBIs, .467 slugging for GCL-Lucy-BMets. Go figure. Campbell plays a lot of positions, but is not known defensively for any of them I have him splitting time at first base with Josh Satin in 2011, or spelling Zach Lutz at third.

2011: Playing 1B/3B/OF for Buffalo

2012 potential Mets utility player

62. RP Michael O’Connor – 30/yrs. old - O’Connor is one of those AAAA picks that I slip in occasionally becase every team needs a few of these. The Mets recently resigned him and he will anchor the chamging buffalo pen in 2011. Was 5-2, 2.67, in 51 Bison appearances in 2010.

2011: anchoring Buffalo pen
2012: possible Mets pen or AAAA fixture

63. OF Tillman Pugh – 22/yrs. old - Okay, here’s another new name to write down. Pugh is a toolzie raw talent that hates school. He went to four of them but never came close to graduating. In fact, he played more winter ball in the past three years than school ball, but, boy, can the kid run and field. Raw power too. Signed late and was hit is the face by a 90mph fastball on the first pitch thrown to him as a Met. This kid was made to play left field at Coney Island.

2011: Brooklyn outfield

2012: Come to Savannah, young man.

64. SP Gabriel Ynoa – 17/yrs. old – speaking of new names. This kid started last season as a 16-year old and went 5-3, 1.99, in 14-games, 12-starts. He has a long way to go… only 35-K in 72.1-IP, but who cares at 17? I don’t expect to see him stateside in 2011, but remember the name.

2011: DSL1 rotation

2012: GCL Mets rotation

65. RP Eric Turgeon – 24/yrs. old – Turgeon has never pitched badly in the three years he has been a Met. 2010 brought 53 appearances for Savannah-St. Lucie-Binghamton and he produced: 6-4, 2.58, 72-K, 26-BB, 76.2-IP. He will start off in 2011 where he ended 2010 and could make the Queens pen by the September call-up.

2011: Binghamton pen

2012: middle relief - Mets

  1. Any guess as to where Dock Doyle will play in 2011?

  2. Doyle is an enigma wrapped up in a riddle.

Was considered a prospect catcher and a future Queems player. Then, something happened in St. Lucie two years ago. Never did get the whole story but I believe he was "suspended" back to extended camp.

All I know is he has never hit since, and barely gets in a game.

I have him returning to Lucy in 2011 as Blake Forsythe's backuo.
