Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that the Yankees are nearing a two-year, $8 million deal with free agent left-hander Pedro Feliciano. In a world where the Red Sox are paying Bobby Jenks $12 million over two years and the Angels are paying Scott Downs $15 million over three years, this is far from a bad get for the Yanks. Feliciano, 34, posted a 3.30 ERA over 62 2/3 innings for the Mets this past season and has held left-handed hitters to a .214/.282/.297 batting line for his career. Columbia Winter League:
The Colombian Winter League, sponsored mainly by Edgar Renteria held a press conference to announce the cancellation of their season, making sure to emphasize that it was not for economic reasons, but weather related. The heavy rains have created landslides and made many of the fields unplayable, so the league decided not to continue the season.
