Cutnpaste: - Sean Green, Trading Carlos, Darrell Ceciliani, Johan Santana, and Wilmer Flores

Sean Green:

The Brewers announced that they signed right-hander Sean Green to a one-year contract. MLB.com's Adam McCalvy hears that the contract is worth a non-guaranteed $875K. Green missed most of the 2010 season because of a ribcage injury, but logged over 200 innings out of the 'pen from 2007-09 with the Mariners and Mets. New York non-tendered him earlier this month, making him a free agent. -

Trading Carlos:

The Red Sox, always big Carlos Beltran fans, sniffed around Beltran a little this winter before committing to Carl Crawford. At this point, it makes sense for the Mets to hold onto Beltran and hope his value increases during the 2011 season. Only something unexpected would cause a team to pay a significant chunk of his $18.5 million salary and roll the dice here.– Newsday - benmaller.

Darrell Ceciliani:

The Good: Ceciliani projects as a top-of-the-order presence. Using a quick, slashing line-drive swing, he hits lefties and righties equally well, and occasionally stings one into the gap, using his plus speed to turn doubles into triples and also make him a stolen-base threat. He has the speed and instincts to have above-average range in center field... The Bad: Ceciliani needs to grow into his projected role. His approach is far too aggressive, and he could be exposed at the upper levels due to a tendency to chase. He'll never be much of a power threat, and his arm rates as a 40 on the 20-80 scouting scale. - baseballprospectus.

Johan Santana:

Dropping strikeout rate, two straight seasons shortened by surgery, and he’s likely to miss half of a this one on the disabled list. He’s got the trifecta of injuries, diminishing performance, and a huge contract — including a buyout of his 2014 option, Santana is owed $77.5 million for the next three seasons. Even if he returns to form for the second half of 2011, which is not a guarantee, I figure the Mets would need to eat at least $20 million of his remaining salaries to get someone else to take him next offseason. So Santana isn’t going anywhere in a trade. He should be decent but vastly overpaid for the next three years. - patrickfloodblog

Wilmer Flores:

SS, Low-A/Hi-A, .278/.342/.433 in 307 PA - Flores is likely to start the year in the FSL, with a mid-year promotion to Double-A. Not many people are capable of playing in the high minors while still a teenager. It is easy to get down on Flores, as his production has yet to match his hype. But no one should be surprised once he starts to put up big numbers. Nor should they be shocked if that happens in 2011. - mets360
