The Mack Report – December 7, 2010

The Mack Report – December 7, 2010

By the way... don't think because there is a new management team in place that all free agents want to run to their agents and tell them "I want to be a Met".  "There are still plenty of baseball players out there, especially the ones that once were Mets, that have no desire to associate themselves with the Wilpons" said an agent to me last night. "Very few talented players think the road to the World Series run through Flushing."

The highlight of the winter meetings, for me, yesterday was the interview that Mets manager Terry Collins gave. He was asked if pitcher Matt Harvey could pitch in 2011 for the parent club, and, yes, Collins left the door that doesn't exist open.
Maybe he doesn't have enough experience with big market press people, but you just know someone will have a headline this morning, saying: Terry says Harvey will Pitch Citifield in 2011".

And, continuing with the “Keepers”… here’s currently our last six:

117. C Dusty Ryan – just signed yesterday, so we can figure he’s going to get a roster slot. Ryan has made it twice to the Tigers parent club, but he prokjects out as the backup for Mike Nickeas in Buffal. No, I have no idea why this isn’t Jean Luc Blacquiere.

2011: Buffalo

2012: Buffalo

118. OF Julio Concepcion – 21-yrs. old – Concepcion is a 6-4 Dominican who played two years for the DSL Mets and the last two for the GCL Mets. He hit .282 in 2010 and showed some pop, with 4-HRs and .466 slugging percentage.

2011: Kingsport

2012: Savannah

119. RP Ramiro Peralta – 21-yrs. old – pitched very well for the GCL Mets in 2010… 1-0, 1.69, 15-appearances, 27-K, 21.1-IP, 9-BB… should jump to Brooklyn.2011: Brooklyn pen

2012: St. Lucie

120 IF Russ Adams – Adams was also signed yesterday, and, I assume, will return to the Buffal team he hit .264/.333/.473/.805 for. This move screams of Reese Havens not being ready to play come April.

121. C Dock Doyle – 25-yrs. old - Sadly, this once prospect has now become a backup catcher who will take his act to St. Lucie this season.

2011: St. Lucie
2012: Buffalo backup

122. IF Jonathan Malo – 27-yrs. old – the Mets recently resigned Malo so we can assume he will have a slot on a minor league team. He’s due for AAA, but the Mets also have resigned Russ Adams… so… I’ve taken unsigned Justin Turner off the grid… put Adams in Buffalo, and Malo in…

2011: Binghamton

2012: Out of the system
