HOW does Lance Berkman, at 34, coming off an injury-plagued season and not known for his defense, whether in the outfield or at first base, score an $8 million dollar contract with the Cardinals, a team noted for having major budgetary constraints and an organization usually known for sound decision-making??? Even MORE perplexing- that was NOT Berkman's highest dollar offer!!!!! And you WONDER why I'm against over-paying for mediocre free agents this off-season???
