We continue the list today with number 5 in our countdown with South Carolina junior outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. The Prince George, Virginia, native attended Prince George High School where he had an outstanding career. He was named a 2008 Virginia AAA All-State team member while being the 40th best athlete for the 2008 MLB in the state of Virginia according to Baseball America. Jackie had an outstanding freshman year in 2009 where he finished second on the team with a .349 batting average while hitting eleven homers and driving in 46 runs. He was also solid on the basepaths by stealing eight bases in ten attempts. He was named to the All-SEC Freshman team while picking up Freshman All-American honors by Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball and the NCBWA. He spent the summer in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Hyannis Mets. Kenny Diekroger – Stanford - Diekroger is another freshman who thrived as a true freshman in 2010 for one of the perennial top teams in the country. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the second round out of high school, but instead of signing the Woodside, CA native stayed close to home to play for Mark Marquess. The decision paid-off. Diekroger jumped into the line-up, leading Stanford with a .356 averaged and 41 RBIs. He started 54 of his team’s 55 games to help the Cardinal get back to the NCAA Tournament after a 2009 absence. Diekroger was named a New England Collegiate Baseball Summer League All-Star last summer. Mac Doyle – Wofford - Doyle started his college career in his hometown (Conway, SC) at Coastal Carolina. However, a transfer across the Palmetto State has served him well. Doyle smacked a grand slam against Virginia Tech in his first game in a Wofford uniform, and he hasn’t looked back since. Doyle totaled eight home runs and 30 RBIs in 2009 and then batted .375 with 16 HR and 75 RBIs and a 1.204 OPS last year.
