From: - http://bleacherreport.com/articles/437713-san-diego-padres-why-chris-youngs-return-needs-to-be-to-the-bullpen  - on 8-17-10: The big 6'10" right-hander hasn't pitched since he went on the disabled list after his first start of the year back in April. The team has done just fine without him, having young pitchers like Mat Latos, Clayton Richard, and Wade LeBlanc along with veterans Jon Garland and Kevin Correia. However, getting Chris Young back would be a definite boost for this team especially in the final month of the regular season and the NL West division on the line.

From: - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Young_(pitcher  - 2009 SeasonAfter  starting the season with a 4–2 record, Young lost his last four starts before spending the remainder of the season on the disabled list. His final start occurred on June 14. He was initially placed on the 15-day disabled list on June 19, but on July 31 he was transferred to the 60-day disabled list. In August, he had season ending arthroscopic surgery to repair partial tears in his labrum. He had been disabled with shoulder inflammation. 2010 Season - Young pitched six shutout innings in the second game of the season before being pulled with a right shoulder strain. He missed almost the entire season except for three starts near the end of the season, finishing the season 2–0 with a 0.90 ERA. In November, the Padres declined to pick up the option for 2011.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/372302-will-chris-young-sd-return-to-form-for-fantasy-baseball-owners  - It’s been a long and winding road for the San Diego Padres’ Chris Young. He is just two years removed from posting a 3.12 ERA and 1.10 WHIP over 30 starts. In the subsequent two seasons, he’s made a total of 32 starts thanks to a slew of injuries: • In 2008, he missed time after taking a line drive off the bat of Albert Pujols to the face (he would spend more time on the DL later in the year). • His 2009 season ended in mid-June, ultimately requiring surgery for a torn labrum

http://www.kffl.com/article.php/90659/88#ixzz1AP5TbplB  - Even before the injury, Young had been struggling this season as he tried to win games with a disappointing Padres team. Before Young's 2 1/3-inning performance he sat at 4-3 with a 4.18 ERA and a 49-29 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Young actually exited his final start with no runs allowed, one out and the bases loaded after the single by Pujols, so he hadn't been pitching terribly. However, his final line showed three earned runs because reliever Cla Meredith allowed all of his inherited runners to score. This negatively affected Young's stats, and he now sits at 4-4 with a 4.50 ERA on the season.

http://theghostofmoonlightgraham.com/2010/04/13/san-diego-padres-put-chris-young-on-the-dl-and-should-put-him-in-the-bullpen  - Here is my suggestion for the Padres and the team that signs him for the 2011 season (The Padres have an $8.5 club option on Young that almost certainly won’t be picked up). Put him in the bullpen. It’s pretty clear at this point that Young’s height has become a detriment to his career. To be that tall and to pull your shoulder down for 100 pitches a game over 30 starts in a season, has to put a tremendous amount of stress on your shoulder. Why not put him in the bullpen and try to preserve his arm? Wouldn’t he make a solid closer? For his career, batters the first time seeing Young in a game are hitting .208 and have a .283 OBP. All other times batters are hitting .224 and have a .317 OBP
