Mock Draft: - Feb. 2011 Stock Up, Stock Down
Though it is early, there are still trends coming off the summer baseball season.
RHP Dylan Davis has come close to falling off the mock draft. He has only been ranked once in the past ten drafts, and that was 45th by Draft Site.
You’re going to see a new RHP enter this picture on the Feb 15th Mack Mock… OF Brian Goodwin was declared eligible for the 2011 draft and he was ranked 18th (5 Tool), and 27th (XMLBScout) overall earlier this month. It will take a few months to balance out, but Goodwin should be a lock for a first round pick.
RHP Tony Zych is quietly moving up that charts and now is a shoe-in for a second round pick.
RHP Austin Wood’s stock just keeps increasing. One mock has him 4th overall. A definite first round pick.
The experts can’t seem to make their minds up about LHP Ryan Carpenter. Half have him an early pick while the rest don’t even rank him.
Rising into the late third round area is LHPs Will Lamb, Sam Stafford, and Adam McCreery.
C Peter O’Brien has a established himself as the second cather overall to be drafted and might go in the first round.
Going in the other direction is C Nicky Delmonico, who hasn’t been mentioned in the last five mocks.
Strangely, 1B Preston Tucker hasn’t been ranked in the past three mock drafts; however, he remains the top 1Bman on the list to be drafted.
We moved Kolton Wong to the 2B list (from OF)and he is now ranked second behind Josh Tobias. Should go supp one.
SS Tyler Green has virtually fell off the map, not being ranked in the past five mocks.
SS Francisco Linder remains the only shortstop named in every mock draft.
3B Harold Martinez is moving up the charts. Chrrently he is a second rounder.
The rush to name OF Bubba Starling in your top ten picks was sobered when XMLBScout listed him 32nd.
New OF name to watch… Derek Fisher.
