YOUNG Not Old News- He's Almost A Met- FINALLY!

By David Rubin

According to ESPN's Adam Rubin, former Padres starting pitcher CHRIS YOUNG has FINALLY agreed to terms with the Mets, pending a physical. That would leave the Mets with a rotation of Pelfrey, Niese, Dickey, Capuano and Young with Dillon Gee and Pat Misch in reserve, until, of course, Johan comes back from injury some time during the 2011 season.

Young, a fly-ball pitcher who had good success pitching in the vast confines of San Diego's Petco Park, is returning from some bad luck injuries over the past 3 seasons. Having watched him live, both in San Diego and Los Angeles, I thought he'd be a good addition to the Mets revolving door of starters, back in October. According to Rubin, it looks like a physical will be scheduled soon, which the Mets team doctors will closely scrutinize. Young will probably be the last addition to the Mets pitching staff for the coming season. To date, they've already added Capuano, Pedro Beato, Taylor Buchholz, DJ Carrasco, Boof Bonser and Taylor "Tank McNamara" Tankersley.

  2. Mack- I TOLD you not to take a sleeping pill while you were perusing the Mets roster!! LOL

I like this move a lot- I've been asking for it for months, as I think a healthy (hopefully) Young could totally revitalize his career in Citi Field and for once the Mets could be the beneficiary.

And don't start sounding like Jon Heyman, bud...
