B-Mets: - Pre-Game Notes

LAST GAME: The Harrisburg Senators used five walks and two home runs to beat the B-Mets and complete a two-game sweep with a 4-1 win Sunday at NYSEG Stadium. B-Mets starter Jeurys Famila walked a season-high four batters and allowed his first Double-A home run to Senators third baseman Stephen King. Harrisburg leadoff batter Josh Johnson walked twice in the first two innings and came around to score both times. Trailing by three in the fourth, the B-Mets failed to score after getting two runners in scoring position with only one out. Lorenzo Scott finally solved starter Tanner Roark by leading off the sixth inning with his second triple of the season. Scott came home to score Binghamton’s only run when Josh Satin followed with an RBI ground out. Allan Dykstra’s single in the seventh proved to be the B-Mets final base runner as Erik Arenesen and Hassan Pena retired the final nine batters they faced to close out the game.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Brandon Moore makes his eighth start of the season and second of the year against the Rock Cats. The Indiana native attempts to snap a two-game losing streak as he was tagged for seven runs (six earned) over 4.0 innings against the Fisher Cats on May 17.

RHP Liam Hendriks will make his eighth start of the season and second against the B-Mets. Hendriks allowed three runs (one earned) on seven hits in a loss as part of a six-inning complete game in game one of a doubleheader against the Harrisburg Senators on May 19. Hendriks gave up three runs over 5.0 innings in a win over Binghamton on May 11.

DEFENSE HAS BEEN OFFENSIVE: Over the last five games, the B-Mets have committed 12 errors. In those same five games, their opponents have not made a single misplay. Binghamton leads the league with 55 errors and is last with a .961 fielding percentage.

“MAY”DAY!: Through 20 games in the month of May, the B-Mets are 6-14. Their current six-game skid is their longest losing stretch of the season. Last year, Binghamton went 12-17 in May and lost nine in a row from May 11-21.

PLAYING CATCH-UP: Binghamton has not held a lead in a game since they owned a 2-0 advantage entering the bottom of the 9th inning against the Trenton Thunder on May 15. The B-Mets would eventually lose that game 3-2.

SNAPPING OUT OF IT: Lorenzo Scott’s triple in the sixth inning Sunday snapped an 0-for-21 stretch. His previous hit came against the New Britain Rock Cats on May 9.
